About the Company

Functional Gums is a company specialized in sales, marketing and development of functional chewing gums. Our mission is to use chewing gums as delivery means of active ingredients (e.g.caffeine). Our products feature proven functional benefits based on scientific (nutraceutical) research to an underserved market segment. We service existing needs of the marketplace in an innovative way. Drive Gum, the first product of a specific portfolio of functional chewing gums, is a unique caffeinated chewing-gum with a characterizing bittermint taste that, combining the energizing power of caffeine with the scientifically proven effects of the act of chewing, helps drivers to stay awake, alert and concentrated.

About the Speaker

Nazareno Mario Ciccarello, an avid athlete and diver, received his BA in Political Sciences from Università LUISS Guido Carli in Rome. He started his career in healthcare before joining the International MBA program at IE Business School in Madrid. After making it to the finals at IE Venture Day he turned his career around. He founded Functional Gums and continued to pursue international business development consultancy. He now acts as the current CEO for Functional Gums, is an adjunct professor at IE and consults for international organizations. His passion for different cultures and diving drive his personal and professional life constantly reminding him to “challenge yourself as much as you can; life is a continuous learning process”.
